I am a Doula, Coach, and Certified Lactation Counselor.

I consider myself a card-carrying Birth Nerd and I love helping parents make the best informed choices for their families.

Research tells us that parents remember the birth of their children for their entire lives, right down to the smallest details. What happens during childbirth can have long-lasting effects on self esteem, self confidence, and parenting.

The transition to motherhood is a monumental bio-psycho-social-political-spiritual process that takes at least 2-3 years. Yes, I said YEARS. Not 40 days. Not six weeks. Not three months.

Support and guidance during that time is crucial to the wellbeing of mothers all over the world, and their families.

I believe in finding the balance between science and magic, and between personal and political policies. In order to achieve embodiment, we must be willing to explore life transition and rites of passage through the lens of ancestral wisdom, anthropology, psychology, and social justice.

Nerdy Birthy Stuff:

Hi there! I’m Christie.

It is my deepest and most sincere belief that we can change the world simply by changing the way we treat people during birth and motherhood.

When a baby is born, so is a mother. This process is a radical transformational shift that rocks you to your very core. It is the kind of change that changes everything. It unmakes everything you were and turns you into something entirely new.

It is my passion to support women through these transformational life events.

In the past, women were held and supported as they crossed the thresholds of life changing events. We used rites of passage to mark important moments in our lives, full of ritual and ceremony to celebrate these shifts.

But in today’s world, mothers have lost “the village.” With the rise of modern medicine and technology, our society has become sanitized. We now separate ourselves from the very things that keep us connected to the earth, including birth and death, and we have stopped honoring motherhood as the sacred rite of passage it was meant to be.

A few other fun facts about me:

  • My husband and I have been married since 2013, and I am the mother of three earth-side babies.

  • I’ve spent two decades in the pet industry, and still groom dogs part-time. I currently have four cats - Athena, Neko-chan, Mekare, and Ragnar; and one little old dog named Andre. I will absolutely ask to pet your puppy during our visits!

  • I love dyeing my hair fun colors. Sometimes I let my kids pick the color, and they always make a great choice.

  • I think coffee can be a love language. (Check out my Java Momma link here!)

  • My favorite season is autumn, and my favorite holiday is Halloween.

  • I love astrology and Human Design. (I’m an Aries, and a 5/1 Generator.)

  • I love arts & crafts. Some of my hobbies include candle making, jewelry making, and cross-stitch.

  • Dandelions are my favorite flowers.
