Have you heard of Bulletproof Coffee? It's this weird "health food" craze that stormed the internet a few years ago. It's actually a brand name, but it's pretty simple to make it at home yourself without the brand name materials.
Coffee + Butter + Coconut Oil = Weight loss, mental focus, and all day energy...?
But does it?
I know it sounds crazy. To be perfectly honest, when I first heard of it I was disgusted. And the first time I tried it, I was even more grossed out. I mean, a dollop of butter and coconut oil in coffee? In what world would that possibly taste good?!? 🤢
But I've figured out the secret! And it IS good! And it really did help me lose weight! 💁♀️
First of all, I realized that the reasons I didn't like it the first time I tried it was simply because I was using the wrong recipe. All the sources I found online said to put 2 tablespoons of butter and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in with 16 ounces of coffee, and blend it up and drink it down. It was thick, and flavorless, and made my stomach feel curdled. And this combination made me want to vomit. 🤮

100% not healthy, and 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! 🙅
But I had a few friends that kept insisting that this worked for them and that I just needed to give it some more time... So I started getting creative. 💡
The big secret? Start with your favorite coffee. I like to use flavored coffees when I have them in the house! (Cookiedoodle and Highlander Grogg are amazing!) ☕
Here it is - My foolproof Bulletproof Coffee Recipe
- 1 Tablespoon of Butter
- 1 Tablespoon of Unrefined Coconut Oil
- 1-2 Tablespoon of Heavy Cream (depending on taste)
- 1 Teaspoon of Sugar/Sugar Substitute
- 12 ounces of Coffee
- Add all ingredients to a blender.
- Mix for 30-60 seconds until blended and frothy.
I like to add a sprinkle of cinnamon and a splash of vanilla extract to the blender if I'm using unflavored coffee. Nutmeg or ginger are also great, or you can try different extracts if you have them.

I'm glad you asked. The idea behind this is really simple. It's the meal-replacement method!
You drink the bulletproof coffee and don't eat anything else for breakfast. The butter, coconut oil, and cream combo helps you feel full for longer, and one mug only has between 250 and 300 calories depending on the variations you add! (Less than many other breakfast food choices.)
